Day 1:

Morning departure to Churchill leaving Winnipeg at 7:30am - Your flight will arrive in Churchill at approximately 9:30 am. From the airport, we will head to the hotel and get settled in and stop at the Northern Store for any last minute items. The group will grab a quick lunch and then head out for an afternoon of photography along the coast as well as an introduction to some of the local landmarks and shooting locations.

Day 2-6:

Each day’s schedule will be flexible and tailored to the group’s wishes. We operate in the 25 kilometers of coastline between Churchill and the Tundra Vehicle tour area where the vast majority of tourists visit. Our location consists of several side roads and beach trails as well as a few locations only accessible by short hike. There are fewer bears in this area but the ground-level encounters are rich and rewarding. The group will decide if we take bag lunches and eat ‘on the fly’ or if we head to the Churchill Northern Studies Centre for a hot lunch. Most days we will be shooting from sunrise to sunset, approximately 8am to 4:30pm. Magic hour lasts for most of the day.

Two trips to Brian Ladoon’s Canadian Inuit Dog Kennel are included in the price. This is an area where polar bears are food-conditioned to prevent conflict with resident sled dogs. It is common for three or four bears to be present and also provides some of the best opportunities to photograph sparring. It is more of a ‘roadside attraction’ atmosphere but the kennel and Ladoon himself have a definite ‘northern flair’. An optional day aboard the tundra vehicle can be booked at a discounted rate of $300 per person. This provides one day of access to different resident bears and while the tundra vehicle is more crowded and from a higher angle, it can provide some very good photographic opportunities as well. This option should be chosen when booking your photo tour, as tundra vehicle space is limited and will fill quickly.

Day 7:

Flight departs Churchill at 9:10pm. Bags can be prepared to checkout and stored at the hotel. A morning shoot is available if the group wants to head out for more bears. Afternoon is open for gift shopping and exploring the community of Churchill. Additional optional tours such as dog sledding or a helicopter tour may be arranged by request. A farewell dinner will be arranged at the group’s favorite restaurant.
